DIY 55$ 24AH Lithium-Ion 18650 E-Bike battery 100+ Mile Range: complete build

in this video i build the second 24v 24ah lithium battery block for my 48v 24ah bicycle battery. i built this pack from low quality 18650 cells. each 6 cell pack cost 4.99$ so thats only about 85 cents per cell. even if they are low quality that is wonderfully useful.

in this video when i say a cell is “unstable” i mean it is more likely to short out when it’s voltage is dropped due to metal buildup on the plates.

the main differances between good quality cells and poor quality cells such as these are due to the cheep cells being made of lower quality materials. some of the differances include
1: lower chemical-electrical conversion efficiency
2: lower capacity
3: faster self-discharge rate
4: shorter life span
these characteristics dont ruin their functionality though, they are wonderfully useful even at the worst quality.

    Yes but it depends on the current you charge them. The new tests demonstrated that charging LiIon cells longer diminish their life. This means that higher current will make them heat a bit more. Anyhow, less heat means more life due to plating process which block the pores from isolation material and limits the electrons flow. Of course are some other considerations but that's why also Tesla batteries have the cooling ribbon with glycol coolant. More advanced. For home use we can charge them in the fridge :)) Is just a thought you may want to consider.

    I think you should leave space between cells for cooling /charge or discharge. They will last longer overall. The major life drop is due to heating.

    I think that bike is very efficient and if you charge it with a solar panel, then you could charge it completely greenly. Theoretically if you have a big enough solar panel and put it on the bike that you could generate enough power to run theoretically infinitely.

    I'm wondering now if it's possible to 3D print a subframe that includes, say, a pop rivet to connect each battery, then solder the wires to the rivets. Just thinking out loud so to speak. That way if a cell does die, you can just slide that frame out and replace the cell without having to resolder anything.

    Take a 80" bike wheel and tire. Generator belt pulleys. Lead acid batteries for your voltage make one wheel trailer and run forever. Add solar for kicks

    Hi , I need some help . I start my project today and the first cell I removed from laptop batterys charged to 1600 to 2500 , but when I discharge than I get 300 mha . I used the same charge rate 1 Amp . What am I doing wrong ?
