22 Feb How to Operate a Folding Electric Bicycle
There are many different types of folding bicycles and folding electric bicycles. Each one has a little different system but the basics seem to be the same. I picked one particular one to use as an example to demonstrate how easy it is to operate a folding bicycle. Also, they are lightweight and one college girl can do it.
One very popular folding electric bicycle is BOB- Battery Operated Bicycle by eMazing Innovations, LLC.
The folding process on BOB is very simple. You just need to hold the two seat bars together and slide down, release the handle bars and pull up on the handle and you are done. The folding process is complete.
To unfold you lift the seat and pull up the two bars, then kick back the tire while pushing down on the handle. You are done. Make sure before you ride to pull up the handle bars and lock the seat into the proper position.
Pedal assisted riding is a great way to enjoy an electric bicycle. During the pedal assist riding, there is no need to turn off the power switch, you may keep the switch on. This will feel just like riding a normal bicycle. When you quit pedaling the power will continue to assist in a short glide, then continue to pedal again. While riding you can turn off the power switch and do all the work yourself, when you get tired just turn the switch back on.
The BOB is a mini because of its size. Other bikes are “standard” bike size. Either one is designed for adults but make sure to read the weight restrictions. The mini is equipped with a brake switch- off device, left and right brake levers with brake power switch. No matter which brake you use, left or right during the right, the power will be cut off automatically for safety purposes.
Electric bicycles usually come with a battery output voltage indicator, when the voltage is at the bottom index, the electronic control system will cut off the power automatically to protect the battery cycle lifetime. When the battery reaches its bottom voltage, you can just ride your bike by the pedal. Recharge the battery.
Here are some other helpful operating and maintenance tips:
– Switch off the e-power on the bicycle when the e-bike in not in use;
-Always ensure your e-bike while parked is stable and the kickstand is locked as well;
-During riding do not turn on the right switch throttle grip to full throttle, it can cause a large start e-current that may damage your battery;
-Your e-bike once fully charged will have a riding range more or less subject to the following factors like: road condition, loading weight and wind direction. It is suggested to pedal more during your start of riding and climbing and against the wind to help increase your range distance and the longer life of the battery and motor.
– Always try pedaling during riding on muddy or rough road.
-During cleaning of your e-bike wipe with moist cloth or wet cloth, never using water hose or squirt gun for cleaning work;
-Don’t put oil on the front brake shoes;
– Make sure that the tire pressure is at the right level.
These simple tips will help you enjoy your e-bike ride and prolong the life of your battery and e-bike.
